Take a break from Disney and explore beautiful Florida. Start your Day Trip off right with a fresh smoothie at a farmers market, then explore a whimsical place, before heading to the beach. Shop along the boardwalk, eat on the beach, and enjoy the sunset celebration at Clearwater Beach. Get out of Orlando on this fun-filled, almost free, road trip!

Let’s make a pit stop at the Bowling Ball House aka Whimzeyland. These super cool artsy home owners welcome visitors to look at their work of art; their home. Take a look around, get some awesome pictures, and maybe even buy some art.

St. Pete Pier

Arrive: 11:45am Depart: 12:45pm

Park on the street near the Pier and take a stroll. At the end of St. Pete Pier stands a cool structure with a gift shop, restaurants, and bar. Take in the amazing view from the tiki bar, top floor. Walk by the playground and splash pad, grab a quick drink at the outside bar while the children play. Walk down to the beach and take it all in before we hit the road again.

Fort De Soto Park

Arrive: 1:45pm Depart: 4:00pm

Time to have some fun at the beach. First stop though walk around the old Fort and see the cool history. This beach is perfect for finding shells and sand dollars! Bring your treasure bags, your swimsuits, beach chairs, and picnic. A beautiful white sand beach, also a great place to save some sand. Have your picnic lunch, search for treasures, and take a dip in the gulf. If fishing is your thing, cast a line from the pier. Treat yourselves to some ice cream at the snack shack and lets hit the road again.

Arrive: 4:30pm Depart: 5:30pm

Sometimes parking can be a struggle at the Boardwalk, so at least take the time to pull in and drive around a bit there might be some shops that catch your eye.

Road trips are all about taking the scenic route, so enjoy the view as you pass through Indian Rocks Beach.

Arrive: 6:30pm Depart: 8:00pm

If you are visiting in the winter months you’ll first want to visit Pier 60 for the sunset celebration before going to dinner. Check your sunset time to decide where to go first. You won’t want to miss a Clearwater sunset! Frenchy’s is a Florida staple. Try a grouper sandwich and Frenchy’s Garlic Crab Fries.

Pier 60 Clearwater

Arrive: 8:00pm Depart: 10:00pm

Make sure to time your trip right, because you don’t want to miss the sunset celebration! This is always a highlight of any Florida vacation. Watch the street performers, shop from the local booths, take your picture with a mermaid, maybe take sunset dip in the Gulf, or even a sunset cruise. Clearwater is a magical place when the suns going down. Once you’re ready head back to the car and make sure to check out the souvenir shops along the way. The shops here always have great prices.
