Manatee Viewing Center in Apollo Beach, Florida should definitely be on everyone’s Florida Bucket list. Open from November 1st till April 15 10:00 am till 5:00 pm (always check their site before making plans).
It is FREE, free to park, free to touch a stingray and free to see manatees in their natural environment.
If you feel the need to spend a little money you can create your own manatee souvenir or buy a souvenir from the gift shop.
There are plenty of picture opportunities for kids and adults.
There is more than just manatees, you can see stingrays, tarpon, sharks and other fish all in their natural environment. You can also check out the butterfly gardens. At the observation tower (no you don’t need to climb the tower to see the manatees) you can have a picnic lunch at the bottom at one of their picnic tables. So if you like free and you like to see nature at its best this is the stop for you!
