South of the Border located in Hamer, South Carolina. This is a very touristy stop. You can pop in get gas and pop out or you can stay the night at either Camp Pedro or at the South of the Border Motor Inn ( that has a indoor and outdoor pool). There is a 200 foot tower you can look out of and the Reptile Lagoon is also located here ( Largest indoor reptile display in the US). There are a bunch of sculptures to check out that are pretty cool too. If you are close and wondering if you should stop the answer is simple, come get gas and see if you love it.

Virginia Safari Park

Virginia Safari Park is located in Natural Bridge, Virginia. This is a drive thru safari and is an amazing experience. You can feed the big bulls out of your car window, then you can do the safari village walk thru. You can buy feed for a number of different animals even feed a giraffe out of your hand.

Virginia Beach Boardwalk

Virginia Beach is located in Virginia less than a 20 miles from Norfolk, Virginia. Virginia Beach has a ton to offer. They have the Virginia Beach Boardwalk which is 3 miles of peer entertainment! You have the Street Performers every night in the summer, Beach, A small amusement park, shopping, restaurants, and bars. This is a very happening place with a great vibe! Too much to miss!

Clingmans Dome is located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina. What an awesome stop! This is a observation tower that is 664 feet in the air to give you an amazing view. On a clear day you can see 7 states. Don’t forget to check out the hidden gem,Thomas Divide Tunnel. This is also free!

OBX Monster Truck Rides are located in Poplar Branch, North Carolina. If you’re looking for a different kind of fun. Come take a ride in the back of a monster truck. You will even run over an old bus. You will also be just down the road from Digger’s Dungeon and Diggers Diner.

Inside Pisgah Forest in North Carolina, is home to one of the best natural water slides in the country. The slide is 60 foot and goes into a 8 foot deep natural pool. This is a awesome place to cool down on a hot day!

Fields of the Wood Is located in Murphy, North Carolina. This is a biblical theme park known for its 300 foot wide Ten Commandments. There is more here than the Ten Commandments but this is a huge highlight and well worth a look.

Chimney Rock located in Chimney Rock, North Carolina. Come take in some amazing views. You can climb 494 stairs to get a 360 degree view of Hickory Nut Gorge and Lake Lure. Or you can always take the elevator and see the views that way. Whatever way you decide to get to the top you won’t regret the breathtaking views.

AAF Tank Museum is located in Danville , Virginia. This is a 330,000 square foot history museum. Here you can see over 120 tanks and artillery pieces. This shows artifacts dating back to 1509 to present. They also have uniforms, head gear, pins, patches, and much more. This is a must if you like history or war memorabilia.

Military Aviation Museum

Military Aviation Museum is located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This has one of the largest private collections of World War 1 and World War 2 era military aircraft in the world. This is a great way to see some history.

Jerrassic Park is located at the entrance to the airport and the Military Aviation Museum, in Virginia Beach. This is a cool free to the public park. It has , you guessed it, dinosaur sculptures you can come walk around and is a great photo opportunity.

Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel

Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel connects Southeastern Virginia and Delmarva Peninsula. This is an awesome bridge that goes from tunnel to bridge a couple times before you arrive at the other side. This is also 1 of the 7 engineering wonders of the modern world. You won’t want to miss this if you are close.

Diggerland USA is an amusement park located in West Berlin, New Jersey. This park has it all and then some. You can enjoy the water park with an obstacle course for the tough ones. They have a ton of machinery you can use including real size heavy machines you must be 18+ to use and also some for the kids. They have camping so you can enjoy the whole park. There are also a lot of events. This is an awesome park for the whole family.

Matchbox Road Museum

Matchbox Road Museum located in Newfiels, New Jersey is a huge matchbox car collection. The collection has over 50,000 cars on display. Such an amazing collection this is a must see. You must call before you go to make sure they are open or they will open by appointment.

Retro Arcade & Fascination is located in Wildwood, New Jersey. Right on the Wildwood Boardwalk, this old school arcade is a great way to go back in time. Bring the family and come play some old pinball machines.

The Pearl Fryar Topiary Garden

The Pearl Fryar Topiary Garden is located in BishopVille, South Carolina. This is a 3 acre garden made up of over 400 expertly trimmed plants. The art of trimming is one man’s gift to the world. This is free donations accepted.

NASCAR Hall of Fame

NASCAR Hall of Fame is located in Charlotte, North Carolina. This is a museum to honor the NASCAR drivers. This is a great stop if you are NASCAR enthusiast. They have 18 cars on display and much more.

UFO Welcome Center

The UFO Welcome center is located in Bowman, South Carolina. This is a very odd roadside attraction. Not for everyone. But the people that will love it, will LOVE IT! Just a man’s imagination and some old things laying around and bam an unidentified flying object! I’m not sure this one still flies tho. This is free with donations accepted.

Love Valley is located in Statesville, North Carolina. This is a truly one of a kind old western town. No cars are allowed, you must park in the designated areas. The stores are not always open in the week but they are open weekends. This is a perfect place if you love horses or if you just love different vibes and like to check out new things. This is also free to walk around.

Mile High Swinging Bridge

The Mile High Swinging Bridge is located in Linville, North Carolina, at Grandfather Mountain. This is a 228 foot suspension Bridge, that is over a mile high. The views are just amazing. Do you have the guts to cross over the scariest swinging bridge in North Carolina?

Assateague Island National Seashore is located in Berlin, Maryland. This is a 37 mile long barrier island. This island has wild horses, birds, and amazing beaches. In addition to the awesome wild horses, while walking the beach you can find shells, sand dollars, shark teeth, and sea glass. There is not much this beach doesn’t offer.

Cape May County Park & Zoo located in Cape May Court House, New Jersey. This is an absolutely free zoo, Parking is free and admission is free. With the exception of buses. What is better than a free zoo? A zoo with 550 animals and 250 species spread in 85 acres.
