Welcome to Michigan

Michigan is the Great Lakes State, and it earns the name. Four of the five Great Lakes wrap around it, and the first time you stand on one, you will swear it is the ocean — you cannot see across it, it has real waves and sugar-sand beaches, and it is edged by the largest freshwater sand dunes in the world. Together these lakes hold about a fifth of all the fresh water on Earth. Down south you will find cities, cider mills, and sunsets over the water; up north it turns into pine forests, waterfalls, and quiet. Whatever season you come for, we have the maps, trips, and hidden gems to get you there.
