If Iowa is on your road trip itinerary, make sure to make a stop in Harpers Ferry and explore the fascinating Effigy Mounds National Monument. Take pleasure in easy, wheelchair-accessible strolls to view the grassy mounds sculpted in the shapes of animals like bears, turtles, and various birds.
There are over 200 prehistoric mounds built by Native Americans and viewed by many as sacred still to this day. Built for ceremonial purposes the mounds are a fun thing to check out with the family! Let the kids do some research then head out to explore!
