Chimney Rock is located in Chimney Rock State Park in Chimney Rock, North Carolina. Not to be confused with Chimney Rock in Arizona. Just 1 hour from Sliding Rock. This is an amazing rock formation that gives you breathtaking views! In the summer the views are fabulous and in the fall the views are just breathtaking. There is a entrance fee. Inside the State Park there are many things to do but this is the most known.
This location also served as a filming site for ‘The Last of the Mohicans,’ adding to its historical and cinematic significance.Â
Ascending 315 feet to the peak of this rock formation is an adventure worth considering! For those hesitant about the 494-step climb, fear not—there’s an elevator option too! If you choose the stairs, the elevator is available just 44 steps from the top, offering a chance to catch your breath before experiencing the breathtaking 360-degree views.
Along the 2,280-foot elevation journey, several scenic spots allow for breaks and photo ops, including the Grotto, Subway, and Pulpit Rock. From the summit, marvel at the panoramic vista of Hickory Nut Gorge and Lake Lure—on a clear day, the view spans up to 75 miles.
