Road trip bingo is a car game where each player gets a bingo card full of things you see on the road, like cows, bridges, and RVs. Spot something, call it out, and mark it. The first person to get five in a row wins. Play free right here, or print the cards.

Here’s the truth: I’m always the driver. So in our car, the game has always been “who’s the first to see a…” Somebody yells “cow!” and the race is on.

Road trip bingo takes that same game and gives everybody a card to fill.

  • It gets eyes out the window. Nobody can win staring at a tablet
  • It works for every age. Little kids get picture cards. Grown-ups can go for a full Blackout
  • It only needs one phone. Pass it around, or skip the phone and print the cards

Instead of “are we there yet?” you get “I need a water tower!”

Where Can I Get Free Printable Road Trip Bingo Cards?

You can print free road trip bingo cards right from the game. Tap the Printable Bingo Cards button under the game.

  • Two cards per page, with big pictures and bold words
  • Name lines on each card, or your players’ names if you set up a game first
  • Matching cards: the printed cards match the ones in the online game, so phone players and paper players can play together
  • No players set up? You get 4 random cards, ready to go
  • Room at the top of every page so a clipboard clip won’t cover the first row

Want a PDF? Choose Save as PDF when the print screen pops up. Need more cards for the trip? Tap Clear Marks, then Deal New Cards, and print again. You get a fresh set every time.

How Do You Make Reusable Road Trip Bingo Cards?

You can make road trip bingo cards reusable by laminating them or using magnets. Print once and play the whole trip, or keep a set in the car for the next one.

Option 1: Laminate and use dry erase markers

  • Use self-seal laminating sheets. That’s what we use. No laminator needed: peel, stick, and smooth
  • Mark with a dry erase marker. Circle or X each thing you spot
  • Wipe it clean with a tissue or napkin, and play again
  • Keep a few markers in the car door so they don’t roll under the seat

Option 2: Use a magnetic clipboard and magnets

  • Clip the card to a steel clipboard. Laminated or plain paper both work
  • Use small round magnets to mark each square. Strong magnets hold right through the card
  • No ink, no mess. Slide the magnets off, and the card is good as new
  • Skip “magnetic bingo chips.” Those are metal chips made for a magnet wand, not magnets. They won’t stick to a clipboard

Both ways work great for little kids. A clipboard also gives them a hard surface to hold on their lap.

Slide a bingo card into the clear pocket, and every kid can see their card without holding it. Water bottles, snacks, markers, and books all get a spot, so nothing ends up on the floor.

How Do You Play Road Trip Bingo?

You play road trip bingo by marking things on your card as you see them out the window. Each player has their own card. Here’s how a game goes:

  1. Everyone gets a card. Every card is different, so no two players hunt for the same things in the same spots.
  2. Watch out the window. Look for anything on your card: animals, vehicles, signs, and buildings.
  3. Call it out loud. Say what you see. “Red barn!”
  4. Mark your card. Tap it on the online card, or mark the paper card.
  5. Get five in a row. Across, down, or corner to corner. The middle square is free.
  6. Yell BINGO! First one to fill a row wins.

Want a longer game? Play Blackout. You have to mark every square on the card to win. It’s perfect for long stretches of highway.

What’s on the Road Trip Bingo Cards?

Our road trip bingo cards come in three types. Pick the one that fits your car.

  • Road Trip: 48 things you’ll spot on a drive, like a cow, a lawyer billboard, a water tower, a car hauler, a roadside giant, and a fireworks stand
  • Little Kids: big pictures of easy finds, like a cow, a fire truck, a dog, a train, and a stop sign. Great for kids who can’t read yet
  • License Plates: each square is a state. Spot a plate from that state and mark it

Every card mixes animals, vehicles, signs, and buildings. That way there’s always something to look for, whether you’re on a farm road or the interstate.

And you won’t run out of new cards. The Road Trip cards alone can make about 32 trillion different combinations. Nobody in the car will ever have the same card.

How Does License Plate Bingo Work?

License plate bingo uses a card filled with state names instead of things to spot. When you see a license plate from a state on your card, you mark that square. Five in a row wins.

  • Each card has 24 random states plus a free middle square
  • Close states come fast. Far-away states are the hard ones
  • Rounds are quicker than the classic license plate game, which tries to find all 50

Want to hunt for all 50 states instead? Play our free license plate game. It keeps score for the whole car.

How Do You Use the Free Online Bingo Game?

The online game gives every player their own card on one phone. It’s free, with no app, no email, and no sign-up.

  1. Pick your cards. Road Trip, Little Kids, or License Plates.
  2. Pick how to win. Bingo (five in a row) or Blackout (the whole card).
  3. Add your players. Up to 8, each with their own color.
  4. Tap your name. Each player’s card has its own button at the top.
  5. Tap what you see. The square fills in with your color.
  6. Get BINGO! The tool spots the win, outlines the winning row, and throws a little party.

When someone wins, you can share the winning card, deal new cards, or keep playing for Blackout. Your game saves on the phone, so you can close it at a rest stop and pick up right where you left off.

Is Road Trip Bingo Fun for Adults?

Yes, road trip bingo is fun for adults. As the driver, I can tell you it gives the whole car energy and something to look forward to with every mile. It keeps the mood happy and the vibe good, even on the boring stretches.

  • Play Blackout. Five in a row is fast. A full card can last for hours
  • Try the License Plate cards. Spotting a far-away state is a challenge at any age
  • Keep the driver in. The driver calls things out, and a passenger marks the driver’s card

All adults? Put something on the line. When the game ends, count the marked squares:

  • Fewest squares: pumps the gas at the next stop
  • Second fewest: washes the windows
  • Third fewest: trash duty
  • Most squares: gets to supervise

Or make up your own stakes. Loser picks the snacks, winner picks the music. Whatever gets your car fired up.
