Welcome to Mississippi
Mississippi is the birthplace of American music. The blues was born in the cotton fields and juke joints of the Delta, and you can still stand at the Clarksdale crossroads where legend says Robert Johnson traded his soul for his guitar. Elvis Presley came into the world in a tiny two-room house in Tupelo, and the Father of Country Music, Jimmie Rodgers, hailed from Meridian. The state grew great writers too, like William Faulkner in Oxford. Down south, the Gulf Coast offers 26 miles of beach and quiet barrier islands. Two fun ones: the teddy bear got its name here after a Mississippi hunting trip, and the man who created Kermit the Frog grew up in the little town of Leland. Below you will find every Mississippi map, trip, guide, and hidden gem we have.
